An NCC Annual Training Camp was conducted in the campus from 10th
May to 19th May.417 Cadets participated in the Camp,
of which 356 Cadets were from Sainik School, Kazhakootam. Lt Col
Venugopal, an alumnus of the School, was the Camp Commandant and
Lt NG Babu was the Dy Commandant.
Batallion Firing and Obstacle race Competitions were conducted in
which Sainik School Cadets won the first prize.
In Firing SSCoy was adjudged the third.
Cadet Kannan Nair of Class XII has recently gone to Singapore as
part of the NCC Youth Exchange Programme. Few more Cadets are also
in the panel of YEP for the year 2010.

Inter House Calligraphy Competition – English, Hindi and
Malayalam-was held in the School at 1500hrs.The results of this
will be announced later.
World Environment Day was celebrated in the School.
The School sports a clean look and we have a green and well
landscaped environment with plenty of trees. On this day the
Cadets were distributed according to the Classes and the Class
masters ensured that the waste materials (plastic and
non-degradable) were collected and disposed.
A Hindi Movie titled ‘Three Idiots’ was screened in the
Auditorium at 1800hrs.

Investiture Ceremony was held in the School Auditorium. The
appointments of the School and the Houses were pipped with the
epauletts by the Principal, Registrar and the Housemasters.

A Freshers’Party for the new entrants of the School was held at
1700hrs in the School Auditorium. The toddlers of the school put
up a wonderful show displaying their innate talents.

OLD BOYS’RE-UNION DAY
41st Alumni Re-union was held. The function commenced
with an excellent Guard of Honour and Wreath Laying Ceremony
followed by the inauguration of the Seminar Hall by the Chief
Guest Lt Gen GM NairSM,VSM, Military secy of the Indian Army and
an alumnus of the School. In the evening there was the
Commemoration Meeting and Guruvandanam. Festival Matches were
played as usual.
The most exciting moment for the Cadets was the Cultural Programme
sponsored by the 1985 Batch which was staged on the next day, the
20th of June.
43 Cadets of Class XI proceeded to St Thomas Residential School ,Trivandrum
to participate in Sanrevo-2010.

THE SOUTH ZONE MEET 2010
The five Sainik Schools of the Southern region joined together to
participate in the various events like Football, Basketball,
Hockey, Volleyball and the literary activities like the Quiz and
Debate. The event was inaugurated by Mr S Gopinath IPS DIG
(Adam), Trivandrum.
The closing ceremony was on 13th of August presided
over by Dr G Kishore, Director, SAI ,Southern region and
Principal-in Charge, LNCPE.
Winners:
Sainik School Bijapur emerged as the overall champions and Sainik
School Korukonda bagged the runners up position.

Independence Day Celebration
Flag hoisting was done by Principal Col B Ajit Kumar
followed by his Independence Day Message.
Mrs Sreedevi Ajit Kumar distributed sweets to the children
of the staff and the Cadets of the sub jr. house.

Onam Celebrations commenced with the Principal’s arrival at the
main foyer and the lighting of the lamp by the first lady
Mrs Sreedevi Ajit Kumar. This was followed by a cultural programme
including the Fancy dress competition for the Sub jrs
.
The Floral Design competition was an added attraction whereby the
cadets displayed their innate artistic talents. The traditional
Onam games were played .The culmination of the celebration was the
sumptuous Onasadhya.

TEACHERS’ DAY
KUDOS……..!
One of our teachers, Mr K Rajendran, HOD, English
Department, went to Delhi to receive the National Award for
Teachers from the President of India Her Excellency Smt
Prathiba Patil.
Mr K Rajendran, Master in English and HOD has been selected
for conferment of National Award to teachers for the year 2009
under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt
of India. It is indeed a matter of great joy and pride for the
whole Sainik School fraternity and in particular Sainik School,
Kazhakootam, since it is for the first time in the history of our
School that a teacher of this School is bestowed upon with this
award.

Medal.
2) In 5000 Mts, Cdt Akhil Raj of Class XI bagged the Bronze
Medal.

Hindi Recitation.

A Special Assembly was held in the School Auditorium to felicitate
Mr K Rajendran, HOD, English in connection with winning the
National Award for the Best Teacher.

18 Cadets proceeded to take part in the All Kerala Hindi
competition organized by the Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha .
The ‘Energy Management Center’ ,Trivandrum, organized an Awareness
Talk on ‘Energy Conservation’ from 1200hrs to 1330hrs in the
School Auditorium.
An English movie ,’A’ Team was screened in the auditorium at
1800hrs.

at the Harshan’s Pavilion.

The Opening Ceremony of Capt Harshan AC Memorial Inter School
Basketball tournament was held at 1500 hrs . Principal, Col B Ajit
Kumar inaugurated the tournament. Eight of the Schools from
Trivandrum participated in the tournament.

The Closing ceremony of Capt R Harshan AC memorial Inter School
Basketball tournament was held at 1600hrs. Shri James Varghese
IAS, Secy to Govt of Kerala , General Education Dept
was the Chief Guest. Mr Radhakrishnan, father of Capt R Harshan AC
was the Special invitee. The final tournament was between St
Joseph’s School, Trivandrum and Sainik School, Trivandrum in
which St Joseph’s emerged as the Champions and the Sainik School,
the Runners - up. The Closing of the Meet was done by the Chief
Guest Shri James Varghese IAS followed by the Vote of Thanks by
the Headmaster, Cdr Jason Paul.
